Muhammad Ali is known to many people as the greatest boxer to ever step inside the ring. His coined phrase “float like a butterfly, sing like a bee” embodies the art of his craft. Some of the most famous images of him emphasize his brute force. For this piece, I wanted to illustrate Ali’s agility and finesse. I decided to expand the canvas with butterfly wings and applied a variety of graffiti art techniques in order to illustrate the beauty of Ali’s skills. I then embedded gold leaf on his shorts to create a sense of motion. As a representation of the bee in his game, I added black and yellow accents to his shoes.
