Smoke + Mirrors <05/05> | 14"W x 11"H
This piece was influenced by Madonna’s artistic expression across music, fashion and literature. In particular, her defiant “Vogue” music video set the stage for other musicians to push their limits outside of the norm. Madonna’s unorthodox vision has been an inspiration to artists’ in all fields. As a tribute to her, I incorporated one of the feathered jewels from Queen Elizabeth I crown on the top image. I then created a mirrored reflection of her exhaling a cloud of smoke that surrounds her silhouette. I then added fluorescent colors of graffiti that cascading in opposite directions.
